Visa : All tourists are requested to carry valid visas for entry into India/ Kerala. One can have the details/ clarifications on this from any of the Indian High Commission's office. After the arrival for visa extension, foreign nationals could contact the commissioner of police at the respective district head quarters.

Best time for visit : October - March, High season
                              June - October, Monsoon rejuvenation programs

 

Climate : moderate  20 - 35 degree centigrade

Travel Kit : Cotton outfits, hats, sunglasses etc., water proofing is essential during the monsoon

Currency : Indian Rupee., Currencies of other major countries could be converted to Indian Rupee at almost all the banks in India. There are also other government approved agencies converting the currencies.

Limit : There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency that a visitor can bring.
 

Banks : Open for transaction from 1000 hrs to 1400 hrs on all week days and from 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs on Saturdays.

Credit cards : Most of the restaurants, hotels and shopping centers accept major credit cards.

Food : Major restaurants offer a wide variety of cuisines ranging from continental, Chinese and Indian. typical Kerala cuisines are also available.

Time : The Indian standard time is GMT + 5.30 hrs.

General : Smoking in public places including on roads, bars, restaurants etc. are prohibited by law. Heavy penalties are levied for possession and usage of narcotic drugs.
